Mangaluru, Dec 9: The department of commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, in collaboration with Mentor for Kids Foundation, organized an inaugural programme of the skill enhancement certification programme on December 5 at the Conference Hall, Sophia Block. This certificate course was arranged for the II BCom and BBA students to enhance their professional skills and prepare them for industry-ready careers.
The formal inauguration of the programme was marked by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing knowledge, growth and a bright future for the students.












Vineetha N T, head of the department of commerce, delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting dignitaries, faculty, and students. She emphasized the significance of skill-based learning and highlighted how certification programmes boost employability and holistic development.
The chief guest, CA Shravan Kumar, founder of Shravan B & Co, addressed the gathering with an insightful and motivating message. He stressed the importance of continuous learning, discipline and professional ethics, encouraging students to take full advantage of the certification programme to equip themselves for future careers.
Sr Dr M Venissa AC, the principal, in her presidential address praised the alumna, Arpana R Bhat, for her commendable professional journey and expressed pride in her accomplishments. She encouraged the students to get inspired by alumnae success stories and to be determined contributors to society and motivated them to explore skill-development opportunities with dedication and enthusiasm.
Guest of honour Arpana R Bhat, alumna and lead–institution partnerships, MFK Foundation, Bengaluru, briefed students on the various certification courses available, explaining how they develop confidence, communication, leadership, and professional readiness. She expressed her happiness returning to her alma mater, urging students to build strong roots with the institution and to return to St Agnes someday, giving back to future learners as she has done
As part of the programme announcement, the college highlighted an MoU signed with Mentor for Kids Foundation on September 29 to formally offer certification courses to students. The programme will commence under this collaboration, marking a strong step toward industry-linked and skill-based learning
The programme was effectively compered by Anusha, assistant professor, department of commerce.
The inaugural ceremony concluded on a positive and enthusiastic note, marking the beginning of the skill enhancement certification programme with great motivation and curiosity among the students.
