Bengaluru, Dec 6: The Karnataka High Court resolved the uncertainty surrounding admission to nearly 900 remaining undergraduate medical and dental seats for the 2025–26 academic year, setting aside the provisional third-round allotment list for MBBS and BDS courses issued on October 24.

The Court directed the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to conduct the entire third round afresh in accordance with the directions contained in its order.

Partly allowing a batch of petitions filed by Chandana M Chavan and 26 others, a three-judge bench comprising Justice B M Shyam Prasad, Justice M I Arun and Justice T M Nadaf instructed the KEA to publish the outcome of the writ petitions both on its official website and in two widely circulated English or Kannada newspapers.

The bench further directed the KEA to undertake the allotment process for an additional 443 seats for candidates deemed eligible to participate, clarifying that this must be done on the basis of options already submitted by the candidates. The authority has also been ordered to allot additional seats left unfilled in the initial stage and to proceed with filling the consequential 377 seats.

The Court emphasised that the entire exercise must be completed by December 17, leaving the KEA with a tight deadline to redo the third-round counselling process.
