Panaji, Dec 1: The Indian National Congress on Monday announced the Goa edition of its nationwide National Talent Hunt, an initiative aimed at identifying fresh communicators capable of representing the party’s views at both state and national levels. At a press briefing in Panaji, AICC Social Media Chairperson Supriya Shrinate said the programme welcomes anyone interested in public issues, not just Congress members.
Shrinate urged participants from all sections of society—including youth, women, Dalits, OBCs, tribal communities and minorities—to apply. Online registrations will run from December 1 to 9, with preliminary shortlisting on December 10 and 11. Those selected will be invited for in-person interviews and group discussions on December 16.
The Goa leg, titled “Goenkaranchya Kallzancho Awaaz”, will focus on issues central to the state: unemployment, land disputes, crime, women’s safety, and the escalating drug menace. Shrinate said the initiative aims to provide Goans a stronger platform to raise their concerns and shape public discourse. Successful candidates may be appointed as spokespersons, media coordinators, researchers, or panelists for state or national forums.
Emphasising the importance of digital fluency, Shrinate noted that Goan youth are already active and skilled on social media. The programme, she said, intends to channel that talent into impactful mainstream media engagement. An independent panel of activists, lawyers, media professionals and influencers will monitor the selection process to maintain transparency and neutrality.
Selected individuals will have opportunities to appear in televised debates, attend press briefings, and contribute to print media discussions. “This isn’t merely about joining the Congress—it’s about shaping the national conversation,” Shrinate said, expressing confidence that Goa will produce strong contenders.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Patkar said the initiative reflects the party’s long-standing commitment to representation and diversity. He reiterated that the Congress seeks to bring more Dalits, OBCs, women, and minorities into leadership roles. “Congress stands for the Idea of India, and every region must have its voice heard,” he said, adding that broader participation is essential for strengthening the organisation at all levels.
