Mangaluru, Dec 1: The department of business administration, St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, successfully organized the International Conference on Technology for Sustainable Management Practices (ICTSMP 2025) on November 28. The conference witnessed participation from academicians, industry experts, researchers, and students, creating a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange on sustainable managerial practices driven by technology.
The inaugural ceremony of the conference was graced by Ajay Prabhu, managing director, KVP Business Solutions, Mangaluru, director KCCI as the chief guest and keynote speaker. The guests of honour were Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJE and Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, assistant director, SJEC. The inauguration was presided by Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director, SJEC. Dr Prakash Pinto, conference chair and Dr Babitha Rohit, conference convener were also present on the dais.












Dr Prakash Pinto welcomed the chief guest, dignitaries, invited speakers, delegates, faculty members and students. He highlighted the objective of the conference in promoting sustainable management through technological innovation. Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJEC, addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for combining technology and management for sustainability. The presidential address was delivered by Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Ssouza, director, SJEC. He emphasised on how businesses and management urgently need sustainable practices and urged students to explore themes on green finance & digital transformation. He also stated that technology can be used to support long term environmental well-being. Dr Babitha Rohit proposed the vote of thanks.
In his keynote address, Ajay Prabhu, managing director, KVP Business Solutions, Mangaluru, director KCCI, elaborated on business, sustainability, and management. He addressed the reasons for the need for sustainability and that companies have a responsibility to ensure the same. He remarked that a business which makes only money is not a business. Making things effective across all stakeholders is sustainability for a business. He cited several instances of how conventional businesses maintained sustainable practices. He further emphasised that sustainability must translate to revenue generation and also highlighted upon the emerging role of AI in sustainability of businesses.
Plenary sessions by invited speakers from the industry was another major highlight of the conference. Bharath Kumar, chief implementation officer, Eton Solutions LP, USA, spoke on ‘Technology-Enabled Approaches for Sustainable Management Practices in Complex Organizations’, stressed the role of digital transformation in driving sustainability. He urged the audience to have a problem-solving mindset and introduced the concept of family office business. He emphasised on the importance of resilience, scalability and governance. He spoke on fintech industry and the need for managing cash, payments and documents in a safe way without compromising the security.
Charanjay Singoor, senior director, Platform Development, MetricStream, Bengaluru, delivered a talk on ‘Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Software Development Life Cycle,’ focusing on AI’s influence on automation, efficiency, and decision-making. He also showcased a live demo on identifying errors and fixing it using AI tool.
Research scholars and faculty from various institutions presented their research papers and engaged in interactive discussions with industry and academic experts. The conference concluded with the Valedictory Ceremony. The chief guest was Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, assistant director, SJEC and the function was presided over by Dr Rio D’Souza, principal, SJEC.
The conference marked a significant milestone in promoting sustainable management education and strengthening the collaboration between academia and industry. ICTSMP 2025 successfully highlighted SJEC’s commitment towards innovation, sustainability, and global academic engagement.
