Udupi, Nov 24: Deputy commissioner Swaroopa T K directed all departments to strictly adhere to government protocols and ensure foolproof arrangements for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Udupi on November 28. She was addressing a preliminary review meeting held at the Rajatadri District Office in Manipal.
The prime minister will arrive at the Adi Udupi helipad and proceed via Karavali bypass, City Bus Stand and Kalsanka to Sri Krishna Math to participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita – Geetotsava programme. The DC instructed the police to implement comprehensive security measures along the route and at the venue.



To enhance security, CCTV cameras will be installed at key spots, unauthorised banners and buntings will be removed, and barricades will be set up on both sides of the route. The display of flags on poles has been prohibited. Risk-prone trees and branches along the route will be cleared. The public will not be allowed to carry bags, water bottles, flags or similar items to the event.
The DC instructed MESCOM and the city municipality to ensure uninterrupted power supply, clear construction materials from roadsides, and maintain cleanliness across the town. Traffic routes, parking arrangements and other logistics for visitors from across the district will be finalised, and a fire engine will be deployed at the venue.
MP Kota Srinivas Poojary said all departments must work in coordination and highlighted that Tulu folk art, Huli Vesha, Yakshagana, Dollu Kunita and other traditional performances will be showcased.
MLA Yashpal A Suvarna noted that the PM’s visit would strengthen the district’s overall development and suggested declaring a holiday for schools in Manipal, Malpe and Udupi town areas on the day. He also urged issuance of passes for dignitaries and participants of the Laksha Kantha Gita programme.
MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, SP Hariram Shankar, additional DC Abid Gadyal, ZP deputy secretary S S Kadravalli and senior district officials were present at the meeting.
