Mangaluru, Feb 4: Police from the Kankanady City police station on Tuesday apprehended an accused who had been absconding for the past seven years without appearing before the court in connection with a cheating case.

The accused has been identified as Jayachandra (66), a resident of Kollam.

A cheating case was registered against him at the Kankanady City police station in 2019, after which he went missing. As he failed to appear before the court, a warrant was issued against him. When he could not be traced, a charge sheet declaring him an absconding accused was submitted to the court.

Based on specific information, Kankanady City police personnel Balaraj and Ravi Kumar traced the accused to his residence at Vattakuttu Lalitha Mandiram in Kollam city, Kerala, and apprehended him on February 3.
