Nagpur, Nov 23: A 13-year-old girl died by suicide on Sunday after her parents refused to buy her a mobile phone, officials said. The incident occurred in a slum near the Hanuman Temple in Chankapur.

The Class 8 student, who enjoyed playing games on mobile phones, reportedly hanged herself when she was home alone. Her mother and sister discovered her lifeless body upon returning home. A case of accidental death has been registered, and the body has been sent to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem.

Authorities noted that Maharashtra has seen similar incidents recently, with several teenagers taking their own lives after being denied mobile phones by their parents.

Marathis are simple. Poverty rate is very high in Maharashtra. They can't afford to buy a mobile phone or other things except food items. Politicians and government officers are corrupt. Majority of Marathis working for a salary of 8000 to 12000 per month.
