Chennai, Nov 22: Actress and popular VJ Ramya Subramanian has opened up about her renewed connection with Bharatanatyam, sharing that returning to the classical art form after more than 15 years has brought her profound fulfillment and clarity.
Posting a short clip of her practice session on Instagram, Ramya described it as more than just a dance rehearsal. “Today’s reel isn’t just a dance rehearsal clip. It’s a small bookmark in my life,” she wrote.
Reflecting on her journey, the actress revealed that she trained in Bharatanatyam from the age of six for nearly a decade before life, work, and shifting priorities pushed it aside. This year, however, a series of personal challenges — including a health scare and setbacks in her decision-making — nudged her to slow down and reconnect with what once grounded her.

Walking back into a dance class after over 15 years felt daunting, she admitted, but the experience quickly unlocked something within her. “It feels different now… like I’m learning with a fuller heart, a steadier mind and a deeper curiosity than I ever had at age six,” she said.
Ramya added that returning to the dance felt like returning to herself, with muscle memory easing her movements and the joy amplified by practising alongside a reunited friend, @vijnavasudevan.
Underscoring the larger message behind her post, Ramya said that one's desire to explore, learn, and remain curious should never fade. “When we have a purpose to our existence, each day feels blissful and our problems start distancing away from us… Here’s to recycling and repurposing life and goals,” she concluded.
