Mumbai, Nov 19: This Tempting Madness, a psychological thriller inspired by an extraordinary true story, is gearing up for its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) with a gala screening scheduled for November 27 in Goa.
Directed by Jennifer E. Montgomery, the American feature has been generating significant early buzz thanks to its tense storyline and a compelling ensemble cast featuring Simone Ashley (Bridgerton, The Devil Wears Prada 2), Austin Stowell (NCIS: Origins), Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi, Gulmohar), and Zenobia Shroff (The Marvels). The film has been positioned as one of the most anticipated premieres of this year’s festival.

The story centers on Mia (played by Ashley), a woman tormented by fading memories and the unsettling shadow of a man she once loved. After awakening from a coma caused by a near-fatal fall, she finds her past in fragments—her husband missing and her family anxiously watching over her, suggesting that the danger she dreads may not have fully passed.
Early viewers within the festival circuit have praised Ashley for delivering one of her most nuanced and demanding performances yet. Produced by Smoke Jumper Films, the project also marks Montgomery’s feature-length directorial debut. Drawing inspiration from a traumatic real-life event involving a close friend, Montgomery explained, “Her unimaginable ordeal stayed with me. It deserved a cinematic voice.” She added that debuting the film at IFFI—known for embracing bold and global storytelling—felt especially meaningful.
Suraj Sharma, set to attend the Gala premiere, expressed his excitement: “IFFI has an electric energy. My last experience here for Life of Pi was unforgettable, and I’m eager to see how audiences connect with this film.”
With its emotional depth, star-powered cast, and roots in a true story, This Tempting Madness is emerging as a standout entry in IFFI’s 2025 roster. The world premiere on November 27 is expected to attract a packed audience, potentially marking the start of a promising festival journey for the film.
