Udupi: Invited talk on 'Skill Development and Profile Building' held at SMVITM

Udupi, Nov 14: The Women Empowerment Cell, IEEE Student Branch, and Women In Engineering (WIE) of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, jointly organized an invited talk on “Skill Development and Profile Building.”

The resource person, Dr Ashwini Appaji M, vice chair, WIE India Council, highlighted the importance of building a strong profile to showcase expertise and create better opportunities.

She explained the significance of both soft skills—such as self-confidence and trustworthiness—and hard skills, discussing their differences and relevance in career growth. The talk also covered steps for skill development, tips for creating a professional résumé (keeping it concise, clean, and including a professional photo), and effective networking strategies.

She inspired participants with real-life examples, encouraging them to take part in practical projects and internships to strengthen their profiles.

The event was coordinated by Dr Nagaraj Rao, in-charge head and associate professor, Department of AI & DS, coordinator - IEEE & WIE who appreciated the speaker’s insights. The program was coordinated by Megha Rani, assistant professor (Sr), Department of AI & ML, and coordinator, WEC.
