Panaji, Nov 12: Goa has been placed on high alert following the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, with police intensifying patrolling and checks across sensitive areas and border points.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said precautionary measures were immediately taken after the Delhi blast. “After the Delhi blast, we have taken precautionary measures and put the State on high alert,” he told reporters in Panaji.

Over 2,000 people and 1,000 vehicles were verified in overnight checks, with police conducting inspections at border posts, railway stations, and major junctions. All senior officers, including SPs and DySPs, have been instructed to maintain strict vigilance on the ground.

Security has been tightened at temples, markets, and other crowded areas, especially during the ongoing festive season. In South Goa, SP Tikam Singh Verma said nakabandis and night patrols have been stepped up, with strict surveillance at the airport, railway stations, and marketplaces.

He added that the enhanced checks also aim to curb illegal activities such as drug trafficking, drunken driving, and the movement of antisocial elements.
