Mangaluru, Nov 7: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, the Mangaluru city crime branch (CCB) police have arrested two individuals who were allegedly supplying the banned narcotic substance MDMA to members of the public and college students in the city. The police seized a total of 24.57 grams of MDMA during the operation.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the CCB police conducted a raid on November 4, in the vicinity of Mangaluru port and dock area. The police apprehended an auto-rickshaw driver, Abdul Salam (39), a resident of SH Nagar, Dayambu, Adyar, Kannur, Mangaluru.

Upon searching the vehicle, officials recovered MDMA worth Rs 1,20,000, along with an auto-rickshaw, mobile phone, weighing scale, and empty zip-lock covers all valued at approximately Rs 2,30,500 in total. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South police station in connection with the incident.
In another operation on November 6, the CCB team received information that a man was selling drugs to college students and the public in the Boliyaru area. The accused, Mohammad Naseer alias Shakir alias Chaki (28), residing at Jaradagudde House, Boliyaru, Ullal taluk, Mangaluru, was arrested.
From his possession, police seized MDMA worth Rs 1, 20,000, a black Yamaha FZ bike, a mobile phone, and empty zip-lock packets altogether valued at Rs 2,05,000. A case has been registered at the Konaje police station.
Police sources said that several others are suspected to be involved in the drug supply and distribution network. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining accused.
