Indapur, Oct 27: A major political upheaval has shaken Indapur taluk as three close associates of former minister Harshvardhan Patil have decided to cross over to the camp of Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane, dealing a severe blow to Patil’s long-standing political base.
According to reliable sources, former municipal president Ashok Ijagude, former Harshvardhan Motor Transport Union president Raghunath Raut, and former corporator Gorakh Shinde are set to formally join Bharane’s camp in Mumbai within the next two days. The joining ceremony will reportedly take place in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Minister Dattatray Bharane.

The development marks a turning point in Indapur’s political landscape, which has long been shaped by the rivalry between Patil and Bharane. The three leaders, known to be Patil’s trusted aides, have played vital roles in organizational strategies and local elections. Their exit is seen as a significant setback that could weaken Patil’s influence in the region.
Sources reveal that Bharane had been in continuous contact with disgruntled members of Patil’s faction over the past few months. His outreach efforts appear to have paid off, potentially reshaping political equations ahead of the upcoming local body and Assembly elections.
The move has created ripples in the Patil camp, with growing unease among supporters. Speculation is rife that more leaders may switch allegiance to Bharane’s side in the coming days.
Political observers say the defection of these three strong leaders could decisively shift the balance of power. “This is a well-planned political move by Bharane to consolidate his dominance in Indapur,” said a local analyst, adding that the development could mark the beginning of a new chapter in the taluk’s politics.
