Mangaluru, Sep 10: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, has achieved notable success at the VTU State Level Cross Country Championship 2026, held at the VTU Regional Office, Mysuru, on September 7 and 8, under the guidance of PED, Vaneesha Rodrigues and assistant PED, Sudheer M.

The SJEC men’s cross-country team secured the II runner-up position, showcasing remarkable endurance, teamwork and competitive spirit at the state-level championship. The team comprised Shashank S (7th sem, Mech), Akshay Gabrieal R (7th sem, CSE), Sathvik (5th sem, CSE), Yogesh A C, Shreepathi Kulal and Gagan G Bajpe (5th sem, Mech), and Hanamappa Dyavappa (3rd sem, ECE).

Adding another achievement to SJEC’s sporting excellence, the SJEC women’s cross-country team secured the IV position in the championship. The team members were Earl D’Souza and G J Chithara Hirinja (7th sem, ECE), Dhrathi (7th sem, Mech), Jia Menezes (7th sem, CSE), and Thanvi & Nripali S Rao (5th sem, ECE).

The impressive performances of both teams reflect the dedication, discipline and sporting excellence of SJEC students and add another significant achievement to the institution’s growing legacy in university-level sports.

The management of SJEC has congratulated all the athletes and PEDs and appreciated their hard work and commitment in bringing laurels to the institution at the VTU state level championship.
