Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 19: The Lourdes Central School Annual Sports Day 2025, held on October 18 at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru, was a magnificent celebration of athletic excellence, teamwork, and school spirit. The stadium came alive with vibrant colours, rhythmic cheers, and a palpable sense of excitement as students displayed their sporting prowess and discipline.

The day began with the dignified arrival of the chief guest, Dinesh Kunder, superintendent of customs, Mangaluru, accompanied by Dr John Baptist Saldanha, manager, and Fr Johnson L Sequeira, principal. The solemn invocation set a reverent tone, seeking divine blessings for the day’s events.

The grand march past, led by head boy Aryan Pai and head girl Kyra Hansika Prasad, was a breathtaking display of precision and unity. The four houses — Opal, Coral, Jade, and Amber — marched in perfect synchronisation, exemplifying discipline and teamwork.

The torch ceremony that followed was a proud moment, with state-level athletes Shriyana S Mallya and Prasidh N Rao carrying the flame of sportsmanship, and Athish Shetty kindling the cauldron, officially lighting the games flame. The chief guest then declared the sports meet open and released a burst of colourful balloons, symbolising hope, aspiration, and joy.

The oath of sportsmanship, led by Ania Mascarenhas, resonated with the spirit of fair play and commitment. The audience was later treated to a visual spectacle — the mass drill, a mesmerising presentation of coordination, rhythm, and enthusiasm.

In his short and inspiring address, the chief guest Kunder appreciated the manager and principal of LCS for their unwavering support towards sports activities and encouraged the Lourdites to strive for excellence and grow into outstanding athletes.

In his presidential address, the manager inspired the students to follow in the footsteps of the chief guest, appreciated the sincere efforts of both students and teachers in their dedicated practice, and urged them to become the future torchbearers of society.

The ceremony concluded with the house system song and the presentation of the first set of medals, setting an inspiring tone for the events that followed.

As twilight descended, the valedictory ceremony marked the culmination of a day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and excellence. The gathering was graced by principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principal Anita Thomas, faculty, parents, and students.

In his heartfelt message, Fr Sequeira appreciated the participants for their sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork, reminding them that true success lies in the spirit of participation.

The prize distribution ceremony honoured winners and runners-up across various categories, including football (Under-19 and Under-17) and basketball (high school).

The individual champions — Prashas G Bangera, Shaauri Sulaya, Vedanth Shailesh Sashihital, P Jenisha, Sinchana Sunil Shetty, Athish S Shetty, Seanna Rodrigues, and Hariharn from Classes VI to XII — were also felicitated for their exceptional performances, exemplifying dedication and discipline.

The stadium echoed with cheers and shouts of jubilation as Amber House emerged as the winner of the march past and bagged the overall championship.

The evening concluded with the lowering of the school flag and the extinguishing of the sports cauldron flame, solemnly marking the end of the grand celebration. The principal officially declared the Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 closed, and the event concluded with the national anthem, uniting all in pride and reverence.

The Lourdes Central School Annual Sports Day 2025 was not merely a display of athletic feats — it was a symphony of discipline, determination, and dedication. The day celebrated the undying spirit of sportsmanship, igniting in every student the flame of excellence that will continue to shine far beyond the field.
