Mangaluru: KMC Hospital, Attavar organizes free health check-up camp for women

Mangaluru, Oct 11: To commemorate World Menopause Day 2025, the department of obstetrics and gynaecology of KMC Hospital Attavar organized an awareness programme and a free health check-up camp for women on October 11.

The awareness programme was held at the Sushrutha Hall of KMC Hospital Attavar. Dr Sheetal Dinkar Ullal, associate dean, Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In her address, she congratulated the department of obstetrics and gynaecology for organizing the initiative and emphasized the need to raise awareness about menopause not only among women but also among men, to foster understanding and support.

The educational session on ‘Thriving through Menopause – The Power of Lifestyle’ was delivered by Dr Aparna Rajesh Bhat, professor and unit head; Dr Nina Mahale, professor; and Dr Sauda, associate professor from the department of obstetrics and gynaecology.

Dr Aparna Rajesh Bhat welcomed the gathering, while Dr Nina Mahale proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Dr Lipika. Dr Shraddha Shetty, professor and head of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, KMC Mangaluru, was also present on the dais.

As part of the observance, a free health check-up camp was organized for women above 45 years of age. The camp offered complimentary blood sugar, hemoglobin, pap smear, digital mammogram, and ultrasound tests, along with free consultations with gynaecologists.

The initiative aimed to promote awareness, early detection, and proactive management of health issues associated with menopause, empowering women to lead healthier and more confident lives.
