Brisbane, Oct 1: In Brisbane on Wednesday, India’s teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi further stamped his mark on youth cricket by launching a scintillating 78 ball century for India U19 against Australia U19 at the Ian Healy Oval — registering the fourth-fastest century in Youth Test history.
At just 14, Suryavanshi also became only the second batter after Brendon McCullum to score two Men’s U19 Test centuries in under 100 balls, the earlier one being his 58 ball ton against Australia in Chennai last year — the second-fastest ever recorded.
His knock ended at 113 off 86 balls, studded with nine fours and eight sixes, before he was dismissed by Hayden Schiller. Alongside him, Vedant Trivedi also impressed, racking up 140 from 192 balls.

Just last week, Suryavanshi had already rewritten history in Youth ODI cricket by breaking the record for most career sixes in U19 ODIs, during a 70 ball innings against Australia in Brisbane.
Earlier in the Youth ODI series, he had delivered another landmark: a 143 run knock off 78 balls against England, with the century coming in just 52 deliveries — making it the fastest century ever in U19 Men’s ODIs.
Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise isn’t limited to youth formats. In IPL 2025, he stunned the cricketing world by scoring a blazing 101 off 38 balls, becoming the youngest ever centurion in men’s T20 cricket and notching the second-fastest hundred in IPL history.
This latest feat in Australia cements Suryavanshi’s reputation as a record-shattering teen talent, one whose fearless stroke play and consistency continue to rewrite the narrative of youth cricket.
