Mangaluru, Sept 27: Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Rajesh Hegde, attached to the Pandeshwar women’s police station, passed away unexpectedly following a suspected heart attack on Saturday, September 27.

The 1993 batch officer had begun his policing career at the Vittal police station and went on to serve at several other stations, including the Port area, during his long and dedicated service. He was widely respected by his peers for his professionalism and quiet efficiency.

At the time of his passing, he was serving as an ASI at the Pandeshwar women’s police station.

Sources said he had returned home around midday for lunch when he suddenly collapsed. Though efforts were made to assist him immediately, he was declared dead shortly afterwards, reportedly due to a massive cardiac arrest.

Originally from Kasaragod district, ASI Hegde had been residing with his family at Urwa Store in Mangaluru. He is survived by his wife and a son.
