Puttur, Sep 5: The Karnataka High court has granted conditional bail to 21-year-old Shrikrishna J Rao of Bappalige, who had been arrested on charges of sexually exploiting a woman under the false promise of marriage. He was released from jail on Thursday after completion of formalities.

According to police, the accused, son of BJP leader Jagannivas Rao, had developed a physical relationship with the woman, also 21, after assuring her of marriage.

When she became pregnant, he allegedly refused to marry her. Following this, a case of rape and breach of trust was registered against him at the Dakshina Kannada women’s police station.

The survivor, a resident within the Puttur city municipal limits, had recently completed her graduation at a Mangaluru-based college. Police had arrested the accused on July 5.

Young women who go to bed before marriage are equally responsible. Can that woman prove that he had made promise to her? Remember, it was not rape, just an Intercourse with mutual agreement. In fact, girl is older. She should have been responsible for herself.
