Bahrain launches nationwide electronic parcel lockers for 24/7 secure self-service pickup

Manama, Sept 2: The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has officially launched the Bahrain Post electronic locker service, introducing a modern, nationwide system for secure, self-service parcel collection at key commercial locations across the Kingdom. Unveiled on September 2, 2025, the lockers aim to transform parcel pickup by making it more accessible, flexible, and customer-centric.

The new service allows individuals and businesses to collect parcels at their convenience, without being bound by post office hours. Each customer receives a unique access code and locker location once their parcel is ready for pickup. The code can also be used by someone authorized by the recipient, adding an extra layer of flexibility and ease.

Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs, told the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that the lockers are a direct response to changing customer expectations and are part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize services. “Our goal is to provide practical and flexible options for parcel collection that meet the evolving needs of both individuals and businesses,” she said.

The lockers have been installed at high-footfall locations across Bahrain, including Seef Mall (Seef District, Muharraq, and Isa Town), Marassi Galleria, The Avenues, Souq Al Baraha, Dragon City, and Saar Mall. Customers can access their parcels during the operating hours of these venues, making it easier to retrieve deliveries after work or on weekends.

The Ministry has confirmed plans to expand the locker network further, increasing access in both urban and suburban areas. Al Dhaen emphasized that the rollout is just the beginning of a larger vision to reimagine Bahrain’s postal system.

This new service is part of a broader national strategy to build a modern, integrated, and tech-enabled postal infrastructure. The Ministry underscored that the locker initiative aligns with Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing service delivery, improving operational performance, and positioning the Kingdom as a regional hub for postal and logistics innovation.

With the introduction of electronic lockers, Bahrain Post is setting a new benchmark in convenience and reliability, offering residents a smarter and more secure way to manage their deliveries.
