Mangaluru: Uniform distribution programme held at Urumane School, Manjanady

Mangaluru, Aug 14: Mangalore University’s Nehru Chinthana Kendra, in association with Shri Sai Ashraya, Mangaluru, distributed school uniforms to the students on August 13 of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Higher Primary School, Urumane, Manjanady.

Chief guest Prof Dayanand Naik, retired professor, department of political science, Mangalore University, along with his friends from Shri Sai Ashraya, contributed uniforms to all the 47 students of the school. Dr Vishwanath T, assistant professor, department of material science, Mangalore University and nodal officer to Urumane School; Abbas, ward member, Manjanady grama panchayath, Vincent Vegas, vice president, Manjanady grama panchayath, Geetha, headmistress of the school, Puspha, Dr Nayana, and Sandhya from Nehru Chinthana Kendra were present in the programme.

The programme began with a prayer and the ceremonial watering of saplings. Geetha delivered the welcome address, and Lokappa was the master of ceremony. Students, teachers, parents, and local well-wishers attended the event.

Prof Dayanand Naik spoke about the role of parents in giving unconditional support to children and having meaningful conversations with them to build moral strength. Dr Vishwanath appreciated Shri Sai Ashraya and Nehru Chinthana Kendra for their community service and noted that Mangalore University has always extended support to government schools in one way or another—whether through academic guidance, infrastructure help, or student welfare programmes. He expressed hope that such collaborations would continue to inspire and benefit rural education.

The event ended with the distribution of uniforms to the students, filling the atmosphere with smiles of joy.
