Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Aug 12: Police seized a sky-blue car with fully tinted windows and booked its driver after it was found overspeeding and driving recklessly on NH 169A near the post office in Shivalli village, Udupi taluk, on the morning of August 11.

The vehicle, bearing registration number 12A BH 59440, was reportedly being driven in a dangerous zig-zag manner from Udupi towards Hiriyadka, endangering two-wheeler riders and other motorists. Police said the driver was also revving the engine to produce loud noises and had ignored traffic signals.

Assistant sub-inspector Vivekananda B of Manipal Police Station, suspecting possible illegal transportation of goods, pursued the car with his team and intercepted it near the MIT junction.

The driver, identified as Shohail Neelakath (26) of Kadangan, Kannur district, Kerala, was taken into custody. A case has been registered at Manipal Police Station.

Police have warned motorists against reckless driving and the illegal use of tinted glass, adding that such violations will be dealt with strictly.

Most probably, and it also looks like it has yet to be converted to right hand steering wheel, when observing the photo where the driver is getting out of the left side. This itself is a major violation as the brain tends to drive to the right side of the road when driving left side. Luckily manipal police averted this danger as he could have easily been involved in a catastrophic front on accident with lorry of express bus.
