New Delhi, Aug 5: British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph is set to expand its entry-level lineup in India with the launch of the all-new Thruxton 400 on August 6. The new café racer will be the fourth model based on the 400cc platform, joining the Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, and Speed T4.
While the official unveiling is just a day away, the Thruxton 400 has already been spotted at several dealerships, revealing much of its design. Though it shares mechanical underpinnings with the Speed 400, the Thruxton 400 carries distinct styling that stays true to its café racer heritage.
The bike features a semi-fairing stretching from the bottom of the fuel tank to the headlamp, giving it a muscular yet sleek look. It retains a neo-retro charm with a circular headlamp equipped with integrated LED DRLs, and a redesigned tail lamp. Buyers will also get the option of a rear seat cowl in place of the pillion seat for a sportier appearance.
A clip-on handlebar setup and a windscreen enhance its café racer credentials, while bar-end mirrors add to the aesthetics. Most components, including the USD front forks, rear mono-shock, front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, and 17-inch alloy wheels, are shared with the Speed 400.
Inside the cockpit, the Thruxton 400 features a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue tachometer, similar to the Speed 400.
The engine is expected to remain unchanged — a 398cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor producing 39 bhp and 37 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox.
With its retro-inspired styling, modern features, and proven mechanicals, the Thruxton 400 is poised to become a strong contender in the premium entry-level motorcycle segment in India.
