Mangaluru, Aug 25: ICYM St. Anne Church, Kelarai Unit organized PAVSA SAMBRAM 2026, a full-day rain fest at Amruthlalji High School Ground, bringing together children, youth, adults and senior parishioners for a day of games, food, fellowship and celebration. The programme began at 10:30 AM and continued until around 6:30 PM.
The inaugural programme was compered by Melissa D’Souza. The event was ceremonially inaugurated by Fr. Sylvester D’Costa, director, ICYM, through the symbolic opening of an umbrella beautifully decorated with the event name “PAVSA SAMBRAM.” In his inaugural address, he emphasized that participation is more important than winning, encouraged everyone to support and appreciate fellow participants, and invoked God’s blessings upon the programme and all those taking part. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a fun water-balloon game involving the dignitaries, setting a lively tone for the day.






The programme continued with an energetic flash mob by the youth, followed by various games for different age categories. The activities included water games such as the Balloon Train, along with other games such as truck pulling, slow bike race, scooter race, and several other fun-filled activities. Roshan D’Souza served as the referee for the games. Food stalls were also arranged, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Fr Richard Coelho, city deanery vicar; Veena Pinto, vice president of the parish pastoral council; Herald Monteiro, secretary of the parish pastoral council; Sr. Irene Rodrigues, superior of Fatima Convent; Grishma Saldanha, ICYM animator; Josnita Rodrigues, ICYM Unit president; and Adrian D’Mello, sports secretary.
During the valedictory ceremony, Fr. Richard Coelho congratulated all the winners of the various competitions and expressed his happiness at witnessing such a large number of parishioners actively participating throughout the event. He appreciated the sincere efforts, dedication, and enthusiasm of the youth and the animator, whose collective contribution made the event a grand success.
He emphasized that “participation itself is a victory,” reminding everyone that the true spirit of such celebrations lies in coming together, sharing our talents, and strengthening our bond as one parish family. He encouraged everyone to continue working together in unity and fellowship, making every celebration a memorable and joyful experience.
The valedictory ceremony was compered by Glevita Fernandes, while Reha Vas, ICYM secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the various games, followed by a lucky draw, where the winners were announced.
The programme concluded with the ICYM theme song, followed by an energetic Rain Dance, bringing PAVSA SAMBRAM 2026 to a joyful close. The event celebrated the spirit of togetherness, active participation and fellowship among the parish community.
