Joyful rainy-day experience at St Agnes School CBSE kindergarten

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 7: The kindergarten section of St Agnes School CBSE witnessed a delightful celebration titled ‘A Day Out in the Rain,’ offering our young learners an immersive experience in the wonders of the monsoon on July 4. The atmosphere was brimming with laughter, splashes, and the unfiltered joy of children engaging with nature in all its rain-drenched splendour. Dressed in vibrant raincoats and holding cheerful umbrellas, the children arrived eager and prepared for an adventurous day outdoors.

The day commenced with the puddle jumping parade, where students gleefully leapt into puddles under close supervision. Their exuberant laughter echoed across the play area as they jumped from one puddle to another, turning a simple act into a moment of pure delight. This was followed by the Rain Dance Circle, where the children moved freely to upbeat music, their rhythmic steps mirroring the fall of raindrops. The blend of music, movement, and rain created a moment of sheer magic.

Next in line was the float the boat activity. Children crafted paper boats and observed with fascination as they glided through puddles, eagerly watching to see which boat journeyed the farthest. This hands-on experience seamlessly transitioned into a Nature Hunt in the Rain, where the young explorers examined rain-kissed leaves and blooming flowers, igniting their curiosity and deepening their understanding of the season.

A visual treat followed with the colourful umbrella parade, where children proudly twirled and displayed their bright umbrellas, transforming the school grounds into a kaleidoscope of colours. The fun continued with the raindrop catching game, a playful exercise in which students attempted to catch falling droplets on their hands and tongues. The simplicity of the activity was enriched by the joy and wonder it evoked.

In the rain song circle, the melodious voices of the children brought familiar tunes like ‘Rain, Rain, Go Away’ and ‘Pitter Patter Raindrops’ to life, filling the surroundings with warmth and charm. The day concluded with a creative and tactile session of footprint art, where children dipped their feet into soft mud and stamped their prints on paper. This engaging activity not only encouraged sensory exploration but also produced charming mementos of the day.

Throughout the celebration, the children learned to appreciate the beauty of nature and the joy of seasonal changes. They practiced safety, patience, and cooperation, all under the gentle guidance of their teachers. The event beautifully integrated play, creativity, and discovery, making it an exemplary instance of experiential learning in early childhood education.

‘A Day Out in the Rain’ was not merely a recreational event—it was an enriching experience that nurtured curiosity, built vocabulary related to the rainy season, and fostered a deeper bond between children and their natural environment. The memories created will linger in their hearts, and we look forward to many more such magical explorations with our budding learners.
