Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 2: St Agnes School CBSE solemnly commemorated Doctors’ Day, honouring the selfless service, resilience, and profound compassion of the medical fraternity. In alignment with the initiatives proposed by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the school not only celebrated the contributions of healthcare professionals but also initiated a meaningful health awareness drive aimed at promoting student well-being on July 1.

The occasion was graced by two distinguished medical professionals: Dr Rama Prakasha S, professor in the department of General Medicine at Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangaluru, who served as the resource person for the session, and Dr Arun Kumar K, administrative officer at Colaco Hospital, Mangaluru. Their presence elevated the event with a sense of purpose and inspiration.

The celebration began with a graceful and dignified welcome, during which the esteemed chief guests were honoured with a radiant Crystal Globe, presented by the school Cabinets - school head girl Priyanka Anna Correa, assistant head girl Aaradhana Shetty, discipline leader Jewel Crasta as heartfelt tribute to their unwavering commitment and invaluable service to the noble healing profession.

The tone of the event was beautifully set by a moment of spiritual reflection, anchored in the theme: ‘Healers with Hearts – Instruments of God’s Mercy.’ This message underscored the divine calling and deep emotional strength that defines the medical vocation.

A warm welcome address was delivered by Aleena Fathima, followed by an elegant and energetic welcome dance performed by the students, which captivated the audience with its grace and rhythm.

The significance of the day was creatively portrayed through a thought-provoking role play titled ‘Healers Through the Ages.’ This presentation traced the evolution of medical care and paid homage to caregivers who have served humanity through time. Another deeply moving dance drama, ‘A Doctor’s Touch: From the First Cry to the Final Goodbye,’ depicted the enduring bond between doctors and patients, highlighting the compassion and strength that define the profession.

Dr Rama Prakasha S, the resource person, was introduced by Tr Josephine, who spoke with eloquence about his remarkable professional achievements and dedicated service to humanity. In consonance with the NCPCR directive, Dr Rama Prakasha conducted an enlightening and engaging health awareness session for the students.

He addressed the dangers of excessive sugar consumption, linking it to prevalent health concerns such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and other lifestyle-related disorders. The session emphasised mindful eating, encouraged the adoption of healthy dietary habits, and inspired students to make informed food choices. Interactive discussions and relatable examples ensured that the session left a lasting and practical impact on young minds.

St Agnes School has undertaken a laudable initiative to promote student well-being by planning the installation of visually engaging and educational ‘Sugar Boards’ at key locations across the campus. These thoughtfully designed boards aim to enlighten students about the recommended daily sugar intake, highlight the detrimental health impacts of excessive sugar consumption, and encourage healthier choices by showcasing nutritious and appealing alternatives.

As a further step in promoting healthy choices, the principal encouraged students to give a second thought to bringing sweets on birthdays and instead consider gifting potted plants a meaningful gesture that supports both wellness and sustainability.

Both Dr Rama Prakasha S and Dr Arun Kumar K were felicitated with reverence and admiration for their stellar contributions to medicine. Their achievements were introduced with deep respect by Tr Neesha and Tr Reena, respectively.

The event drew to a graceful close with a sincere vote of thanks delivered by Khatheeja Simra, who acknowledged the efforts of the dignitaries, faculty, and students for their collaborative role in making the celebration a memorable and impactful success. The programme was seamlessly anchored by Anvi S K and Anshiya George P, whose eloquence and confidence ensured the event flowed flawlessly.

The day concluded on a high and harmonious note with the uplifting rendition of the school Anthem, which echoed through the hearts of the school community uniting them in a spirit of profound gratitude, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to a healthier, brighter tomorrow. It also reaffirmed the school's dedication to upholding the aims and objectives of the NCPCR in fostering holistic well-being and informed lifestyle choices among students.
