Cristiano Ronaldo commits to Al Nassr until 2027, ending transfer speculation

New Delhi, Jun 26: Cristiano Ronaldo has officially extended his stay at Al Nassr, signing a new contract that will keep him at the Saudi Arabian club until 2027. The announcement ends months of speculation surrounding his future following the end of the 2024–25 season.

Ronaldo confirmed the extension with a statement on social media platform X: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.” Al Nassr echoed the news shortly after: “Cristiano Ronaldo is staying at @AlNassrFC until 2027.”

The 39-year-old Portuguese star, who joined Al Nassr in late 2022 after parting ways with Manchester United, has since become a pivotal figure for the club. With 93 goals in 105 appearances, he has not only delivered on the pitch but also played a major role in boosting the global profile of the Saudi Pro League.

Despite Al Nassr finishing third in the league this season and missing out on Asian Champions League Elite qualification, Ronaldo’s goal-scoring form remained stellar. However, his cryptic message after the final game of the season — “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written.” — had sparked rumours of a possible move.

Further speculation arose when FIFA President Gianni Infantino hinted at Ronaldo’s potential involvement in the expanded 2025 Club World Cup. But Ronaldo dismissed the idea during a press conference, saying: “It’s almost decided that I will not take part in the FIFA Club World Cup, despite receiving many invitations and proposals.”

By committing his future to Al Nassr, Ronaldo not only silences transfer chatter but also signals his continued investment in Saudi football’s ambitious growth plans.
