The programme began with divine grace sought on the august gathering by melodious college choir. The welcome dance that followed set the programme on the right note.
Principal Fr Clifford Sequeira, in his welcome address, lauded the occasion as a day of celebration and gratitude. He commended the parents for being role models and pillars of strength to their children in their journey towards success. He expressed deep appreciation of the teachers, who, guided by the Jesuit principle of Cura Personalis, relentlessly strive to mentor the young achievers, caring for their personalities and shaping their future.
Applauding the student achievers, he urged them to continue putting small and consistent efforts daily to succeed in life. He reminded them that this milestone is only a step toward a greater success and that they must be generous in spirit, compassionate, and mindful of the less fortunate in their future endeavors.
He advised them to give back to society, reach out to the needy, stay humble while they remain curious and committed tolearning and strive for excellence wherever they go.
Student representatives Disha Narayan, the science stream topper, Hanshitha Shetty, the commerce stream topper, and G Lavanya, the arts stream topper, expressed their gratitude to the college and teachers for their contribution and efforts towards their success.
The chief guest Rohit Rao, an accomplished entrepreneur, explorer and conservationist, fondly recollected the long years that he spent in the campus as a student, cherishing every memory made here and taking pride in his identity as an Aloysian. He told the achievers that their hard work sets them apart from the crowd of high scorers.
The values inculcated at St Aloysius PU College will give them a step ahead of the rat race. Providing them with three useful tips for success, he said that they must accept change, be adaptable and learn to manage themselves. In the opinion of Rao, change is the only thing that is constant and it is necessary to adapt to it.
He advised the students to be prepared to learn, unlearn and relearn. In the present times, when there are endless opportunities and choices, they must acquire multidisciplinary survival skills. Making themselves ‘employable’ must become their mission as employment only depends on skills and not marks. In addition, he suggested that they use technology productively, sharpen their communication and public speaking skills, and put their hobbies to use.
Referring to how ISRO changed its way of thinking, adapted and then rose to success, he illustrated how one must learn to fail, when one fails, and then rise like a phoenix heading towards success.
He concluded his speech by encouraging the achievers to become an ‘ISRO rocket’, to inspire others and to show the way to those who are struggling to find their paths.
The chief guest’s address was followed by the felicitation of the 20 students who garnered top ten positions in the state with their parents, and the 795 students who secured a distinction.
