Mumbai, Jun 22: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old woman airline pilot was allegedly sexually harassed during an Uber ride in Mumbai late Thursday night. Police have registered a case against the cab driver and two unidentified men in connection with the case.

The incident occurred around 11:15 pm while the woman was returning to her residence in Ghatkopar from south Mumbai. Her husband, a Navy officer currently staying at a naval residential complex due to unavailability of government housing, had booked the cab for her after dinner.

According to her complaint, about 25 minutes into the ride, the Uber driver changed the route and picked up two unknown men. One of them, seated next to her in the back seat, allegedly touched her inappropriately. When she objected, the man reportedly threatened her while the driver remained passive.

The woman said both men fled the scene after spotting a police checkpoint ahead. She eventually reached home and confronted the driver, but he failed to offer any explanation for letting the strangers into the cab.

She reported the incident to her husband the following morning, after which the couple approached the Ghatkopar police station. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under sections 75(1) (sexual harassment), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway and efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused.
