Indore, Jun 20: In a chilling twist to the much-talked-about honeymoon murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Meghalaya Police has landed in Indore and launched a comprehensive probe. Over 20 individuals, including family members of the accused duo Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha, have been questioned as part of the high-stakes investigation.

Sources revealed that the SIT also visited a plywood factory run by Sonam’s brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, where several employees familiar with both Sonam and Raj were interrogated. Police believe that key clues about the planning of the alleged murder could emerge from this workplace interaction.

Investigators, while grilling the arrested accused — Sonam, her alleged paramour Raj Kushwaha, and his three associates — uncovered startling details. They reportedly hatched the murder plan at a popular restaurant located in the Super Corridor area of Indore.

The restaurant in question has now come under the scanner. Owner Jai Soni, while speaking to IANS, expressed shock over the developments and claimed he was unaware of any such meeting. “We serve many customers daily. Some sit for long hours, but we don’t interfere. I came to know about the case only through media reports,” he stated, adding that no police team has contacted him yet. “We are ready to cooperate fully and will provide CCTV footage if asked,” he said, expressing regret that such an incident has tarnished Indore’s image.

Further, on Wednesday, the Meghalaya police team reached the residence of Sonam Raghuvanshi in Indore and questioned her family members. On Tuesday night, they also visited the home of the deceased Raja Raghuvanshi and interacted with his grieving family, including his mother. They specifically enquired about Sonam’s conduct during her brief three-day stay post-wedding.

Raja and Sonam had tied the knot in Indore on May 11. Sonam stayed at Raja's residence until May 13 before returning to her parental home. On May 21, the couple embarked on their ill-fated honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, where Raja was later found murdered under suspicious circumstances.

The investigation is currently ongoing with more revelations expected in the days ahead as Meghalaya Police continues to unearth the deeper conspiracy behind this shocking crime.
