Mangaluru, June 17: Member of Parliament Capt Brijesh Chowta has announced that the district BJP will stage a protest on June 23 against the state government, condemning what it terms “anti-people and anti-farmer” policies and the alleged denial of social security benefits.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, June 17, Capt Chowta stated that the protest would be held across all 223 grama panchayats, the Mangaluru City Corporation, two city council offices, and various municipal offices throughout the district.

He accused the state government of complicating the '9/11' land regularisation process instead of simplifying it, and alleged that it was being misused for corrupt practices. “The rejection of applications under the Akrama-Sakrama scheme, without the knowledge of the committee members, is an anti-farmer policy. We demand the simplification of this process,” he asserted.
Capt Chowta further demanded the construction of 100 houses per panchayat under the Ashraya housing scheme, stating that there had been no progress in this regard over the past two years.
The protest will also raise concerns about the alleged lapses in the Sandhya Suraksha pension scheme. “In an attempt to cover up administrative failures and mismanagement of revenue, the government is denying citizens their social security benefits,” he alleged.
Capt Chowta also criticised the recent hike in electricity prices.
