Puttur, June 8: A private bus travelling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru overturned after the driver reportedly lost control near Barchinahalli on National Highway 75, within the limits of Uppinangady police station, in the wee hours of June 7. More than 16 passengers sustained injuries in the incident.
The bus was carrying over 30 passengers at the time of the accident.

Those injured include Fahad (20) from Moodbidri, Ramzeen (25) from Farangipete, Ummar (53) from Deralakatte, Tamim (19) from Puttur, Isham (19) from Salmara in Puttur, Rukmaya (24) from Uppinangady, Jahir (23) from Salethur in Bantwal, Shameer (28) and Ansar (26) from Vittal, Somashekhara (55) from Dasarapura in Bengaluru, Sharath (35), Dr Mahant Gowda (47) from Nelamangala, Simack (23) from Sampya, Abdul Razeed (38), Pauzil (23) and Altaf (28) from Kaikamba in Moodbidri. A few others reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Locals rushed to the scene and helped shift the injured to a private hospital in Nelyadi for first aid. Some of them were later referred to hospitals in Puttur and Mangaluru for further treatment. Police from the Nelyadi outpost visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
