Mangaluru, Jun 7: On the occasion of World Environment Day, celebrated globally on June 5, the institute of aviation studies, Srinivas University organized a blood donation camp to promote the spirit of social responsibility and compassion towards fellow human beings. The initiative aimed to foster a sense of community engagement and humanitarian awareness among students and staff, highlighting the university's commitment to both environmental and social welfare.
The event commenced with a prayer. This was followed by a welcome address delivered by Prithvi, NSS coordinator, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, who extended gratitude to all attendees and encouraged participation in the noble cause. The purpose and deeper significance of the camp, especially in the context of World Environment Day, were eloquently presented by Dinon Hacvids D’Souza, an MBA student, Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University. He emphasized the importance of humanitarian efforts like blood donation in building a more empathetic and socially responsible society.







The camp was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean of the Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University. The medical operations were overseen by Dr Madhukar, medical officer, and Dr Triveni, PG Pathologist of Srinivas Hospital, Mukka. Both ensured that all health and hygiene protocols were strictly followed in accordance with medical standards and safety guidelines.
The blood donation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from a broad spectrum of the university community, including students, faculty members, and administrative staff. A total of 59 individuals registered for blood donation. After undergoing necessary medical screenings, 30 units of blood were successfully collected. The pre-donation process included registration, haemoglobin level checks, blood pressure monitoring, and a general assessment of the donor's fitness, ensuring the safety of both donors and recipients.
The collected blood units were carefully preserved and sent to Srinivas Hospital, Mukka, where they will be used to support patients in urgent need of blood transfusions. The initiative not only contributed to a life-saving cause but also served as an educational experience for participants, reinforcing the values of empathy, social contribution, and civic duty.
The camp concluded on a positive and uplifting note, with participants expressing a strong sense of satisfaction and pride. The event not only reflected the university’s dedication to human welfare but also reinforced the values of community service and environmental awareness. It left a lasting impression of compassion and collective responsibility among all participants.
