Karkala: Christ King Institutions celebrate World Environment Day

Karkala, Jun 6: Christ King Educational Institutions, in collaboration with the forest department's Kundapur Division, Moodbidri sub-division, and Karkala Range, organized World Environment Day celebrations at the premises of Nitte Gram Panchayat.

Karkala tahsildar Pradeep attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, he encouraged students to take greater responsibility for protecting the environment by planting and nurturing trees in their homes.

Anand S Varthi, development officer of Nitte gram panchayat, also spoke on the occasion and emphasized, “Our very existence depends on the environment. It is our collective duty to protect and nurture it.”

As part of the celebration, students later visited the Christa Sevaki Ashram Old Age Home in Parpale. Fr Buchart Berti Amanna explained the importance of World Environment Day and urged the students to grow into morally upright individuals with strong values.

The programme was organized under the aegis of the scouts & guides unit and the science club. Following the formal event, students planted various types of saplings around the premises as a gesture of environmental commitment.

Scout and guide teachers Prakash Naik, Krishna Prasad, Asha Jyothi, and Jayalakshmi coordinated the successful execution of the programme.

Forest officer Hukrappa Gowda, in-charge principal of the high school section Josna Snehalatha and other department officials were also present.
