Mangaluru, Jun 4: The Endoscopy Department of Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH), in collaboration with the Quality Department, has been conferred with the prestigious Centre of Excellence honours under the “Endoscopy Safety Program” organised by the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO) in association with Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP).
The program culminated in a comprehensive, state-of-the-art audit aimed at transforming patient safety in endoscopy. It focused on setting new standards for safe endoscopy, benchmarking facility performance, gaining actionable insights to enhance practices, and ensuring compliance with national and international guidelines and accreditation norms.


The department demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving over 70% compliance across multiple categories, including:

Quality assurance and patient safety
The onsite audit was conducted on March 11, 2025, by Dr Archana B R, professor of microbiology, Rajarajeswari Medical College, Bengaluru. The Centre of Excellence certificate was presented on April 13, 2025, during Day 2 of CAHOCON, in recognition of the hospital's commitment to Endosafe learnings, contributions, and achievements. The certificate will remain valid for two years from the date of issue.
Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator of FMMCH, congratulated the Endoscopy Team, stating, “FMMCH strives hard to provide the best of care, reaching even the poorest of the poor, with no compromise on quality—a mission mandated by Jesus Christ.”
Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director of FMCI, and Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director-designate of FMCI, also conveyed their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the departments for this notable achievement.
