Mangaluru: 24 cows rescued during illegal transport; 1 held, container seized at Talapady toll gate

Mangaluru, June 2: The Mangaluru city police have successfully intercepted a container involved in illegal cattle transportation and rescued 24 cows in the early hours of June 1.

The container, which was transporting the cattle from Kerala to Karnataka, was stopped at the Talapady toll gate following a coordinated operation. Acting on specific intelligence, checkposts were established across the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate, leading to the timely interception.

The accused has been arrested, and the container seized. The rescued cattle have been handed over to a local Goshala (cow shelter) for proper care and rehabilitation.

A case has been registered at the Ullal police station, and further investigation is underway.

    strict vigil should be maintained at Tepiladi international border ... any thing could be passing through ... drugs, gold, currency/fake currency, livestock, liquor, virus etc...
