Mangaluru, May 31: Ahead of a key meeting with police officials, Muslim leaders met with Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao at the Mangaluru police commissioner’s office on Saturday. The meeting focused on recent communal tensions and the demand for strict action against those responsible for delivering provocative speeches.

The Muslim leaders submitted a memorandum to the minister, urging the government to take stringent action against anyone — regardless of religion — who incites communal disharmony through hate speech. They alleged that recent murders in Mangaluru were a direct result of such inflammatory rhetoric.

The leaders expressed their concerns within the premises of the police commissioner’s office and also addressed the media, demanding swift and unbiased enforcement of law. They emphasized that communal harmony must be preserved and requested the government to ensure accountability for actions that disturb peace.
