Mangaluru, May 31: A dramatic scene unfolded on Saturday during a press conference when a Congress worker expressed anger in front of Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

During the interaction, a journalist asked whether provocative comments on social media were responsible for the recent murder of Abdul Rahiman in Dakshina Kannada district. At this point, Congress leader Usman Kallapu, who was present at the event, strongly reacted, claiming that hate speeches made during the ‘Bajpe Chalo’ event were the actual cause behind Rahiman’s murder. He demanded that the police and government take strict action against those delivering hate speeches. Kallapu continued to voice his frustration even after stepping out of the venue.

Speaking further, Usman Kallapu directly criticised Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and said, “Arrest those who made inflammatory speeches during the Bajpe Chalo event and made cinematic-style statements like ‘he must be killed.’ No one should lose their life — our aim is to keep Dakshina Kannada peaceful. We are Congress leaders, our party is in power. Issue orders to the police department and arrest the culprits.”

He added, “People are being arrested for Facebook posts. We don’t want anyone to support us — we just want justice. The district has new police officials now, and we trust them.”
