Mangaluru, May 30: In view of heavy rainfall, all anganwadis and schools in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district will remain closed on May 31.

The holiday applies to all government, aided, and unaided private primary and high schools (including CBSE & ICSE), anganwadis, as well as PU colleges across the district.

Parents are advised to ensure that children stay away from low-lying areas, lakes, riverbanks, and the seashore. Fishermen have been strictly warned not to venture into the sea.

Taluk-level officers have been instructed to remain at their headquarters, while nodal officers appointed by the district administration have been directed to stay alert and respond promptly to public grievances. Tahsildars have also been asked to maintain constant communication.

As a safety precaution, both locals and tourists are strictly prohibited from visiting beaches, rivers, and waterfalls. Taking photos or videos in these areas is also discouraged.

Emergency services are available 24/7 through the toll-free control room number 1077 or landline 0824-2442590 (Dakshina Kannada).
