Mangaluru, May 30: In a tragic incident triggered by relentless rains over the past few days, a child lost her life after a landslide in Kanakare near Bellugrama.

The deceased child has been identified as Nayeema, daughter of Naushad.

The incident occurred when the hill and retaining wall behind Naushad's house collapsed. A portion of the wall fell through the window into the room, landing on the child and resulting in her death.

In a separate incident at Montepadavu, three individuals are reportedly trapped under the mud due to a landslide. Officials are currently assessing the situation.

Several houses across Ullal taluk have been submerged due to the heavy rains, severely disrupting daily life. Areas including Kumpala, Kallapu, Dharmanagara, Uchila, Talapady, Vidyanagar, and Kalkatta have reported flooding, with water entering homes and forcing many families to relocate during the night.

In Kallapu alone, over 50 houses have been affected by waterlogging. In Talapady, one house was severely damaged after water entered the premises, prompting the relocation of the affected family at night.

Ullal taluk tahsildar Puttaraju, revenue inspector Pramod, Someshwara town municipal chief officer Mattadi, village accountant Suresh, and other officials visited the affected areas at night and conducted inspections.

Rest in peace little one. Praying for safety of those affected. This is high time we stop buildings and add more greenery. The homeostasis is destroyed which is affecting in floods. The concerned authorities as well as local people should come forward and plant trees. So that this kind of problems dont occur in the future.
