Mangaluru, May 28: In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, a photographer lost his life after the car he was driving overturned and fell into a roadside stormwater drain near Kodikal Cross on the Mangaluru–Udupi National Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Surya Narayan (48), a professional photographer. He was on his way to cover a programme at the Nandikeshwara Temple in Panambur when the accident occurred. A basic retaining wall would have saved the life, its not a rocket science but basic common sense is lacking in Mangalore Corporation, they have built useless makes shift guard rails for people who are walking not to fall in some places of the city but a retaining wall would save lot of lives, there was tipper that fell in one of the drains in Bikarnakatte, so much for tax collections, all money gets pocketed and no one really wants to address this.
