Preparedness in place to tackle Covid situation; masks not mandatory for now: CM Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 28: There is currently no cause for concern regarding Covid-19 in Karnataka, but all necessary preparations are in place to handle any potential outbreak, said chief minister Siddaramaiah. He emphasized that steps have been taken to ensure uninterrupted access to ventilators, oxygen supply, and hospital wards.

Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, the chief minister said that officials have been instructed to remain fully prepared for any eventuality. "Instructions have been given to ensure that ventilators, oxygen supply, and hospital wards function without any disruption," he stated.

He noted that the number of Covid cases in the state has risen from around 65 to 80 but clarified that the situation is not of serious concern. He advised that children with symptoms like cold, cough, or fever should not be sent to school. Elderly individuals and those with comorbidities must wear masks as a precautionary measure. He also mentioned that vaccines should be stocked in advance as part of preparedness.

"Mask-wearing is not mandatory for everyone at this stage. However, it is advised that the elderly and those with underlying health conditions wear masks," the chief minister added.

Regarding airport screening, he said that no specific instructions have been received from the central government yet, but precautionary measures will still be taken.

What CM Siddaramaiah says is not exactly correct.Better wear masks so that you dont give further your infection to children or elderly. We (self) too had a slight Covid last year .but mild.Only didnt mix with others .Since we had already vaccination previously it wasnt serious. But later were very tired for weeks .Couldnt work hard. But its ok later two weeks it was over.Still one has to take care. Not neglect.
