Kadaba, May 27: A massive mango tree fell on a parked Maruti 800 car near Atur in Ramakunja village, located along the Kadaba–Uppinangady state highway, on Monday evening. The car was completely damaged in the incident.

Local resident Abdul Saleem had parked his car by the roadside and gone to a nearby shop. Meanwhile, his friends Abdul Rahiman, Ramlan, and Abtas were seated inside the car. Noticing the large mango tree swaying dangerously, they quickly exited the vehicle and ran to safety just in time. The tree, which was uprooted, blocked the road for a brief period, disrupting traffic.

Local youths promptly cut the tree into pieces and cleared the road. Later, an excavator was used to remove the part of the tree that had fallen on the car. The incident also caused damage to nearby power lines.

In another incident along the highway near Nekkare in Alankaru village, a tree fell on the road, affecting vehicular movement. Additionally, in Kundaje, Ramakunja village, a tree collapsed on a house, causing partial damage to the structure.

There is also concern of road closure due to a potential landslide along the Maleshwara–Porantu connecting road in Kodimbala village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kadaba town panchayat.
