Mangaluru, May 26: Mangaluru City Police have registered a case against the organisers and speakers of the ‘Bajpe Chalo’ protest held by members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, demanding that the investigation into the murder of Suhas Shetty be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The protest, which took place near Sharada Mantap in Bajpe between 3 pm and 5 pm on Sunday, May 25, was held without police permission. A crowd of around 3,000 people reportedly participated in the demonstration.

According to the police, protesters unlawfully assembled at and around the Bajpe bus stand, blocking entry and exit routes and occupying parts of State Highway No. 67. This caused disruption to vehicular movement and public access in the area.

During the event, one of the speakers allegedly delivered a provocative speech in reference to the Suhas Shetty case, in a manner that could incite communal tension and disturb public peace.

Based on the incident, a case has been registered at Bajpe police station under Crime No. 90/2025. Charges have been filed under sections 189(2), 191(2), 285, 192, 351(2), 351(3), and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 107 and 109 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963.

Peace can be established by following rules, respecting fellow human being and respecting all religions. Whole society can live in peace if religion is not brought to street! This applies to people of all religion!
