Mangaluru, May 26: A resident of Ganjimath is facing severe hardship after well water at their residence became contaminated, allegedly due to a nearby private hall.
The issue reportedly began a couple of years ago when drainage from the private hall, connected to the residence, caused contamination of the well. Initially, a well within the compound had to be closed due to the pollution. A second well was later constructed, but it too became unusable for the same reason.

The property owner currently resides abroad, while his brother has been actively pursuing justice, citing the lack of access to safe drinking water due to the contaminated supply.
Zakir, the resident’s brother, has repeatedly approached officials and submitted complaints. Reports have confirmed that the water is unfit for consumption. Despite sending multiple letters to the deputy commissioner and U T Khader, the district in-charge minister, no action has yet been taken against the hall.
The affected residents are demanding an immediate alternative water supply and strict action against the private hall responsible for the contamination.
