Udupi: Man held for drug peddling in public area

Udupi, May 22: A man was arrested for allegedly trafficking and selling drugs in a public area here. The arrested individual has been identified as Brahandev Yadav (37), a native of Bihar.

According to the police, 690 grams of drugs worth Rs 60,680 were seized from the accused. In addition, authorities confiscated a mobile phone, Rs 680 in cash, and other belongings.

The accused was reportedly selling drugs near the crossroads of Diana Talkies Road, close to the Manipal Railway Station Road in Shivalli village, Udupi taluk.

The arrest was carried out by a team from the CEN crime police station under the supervision of deputy superintendent of police A C Lokesh and inspector Ramachandra Nayak. The police team included ASI Umesh, Praveen Kumar, Praveen, Rajesh, Raghavendra, Venkatesh, Santosh, Dharmappa, Arun Kumar, Dikshith, Pavan, Nilesh, Parashuram, Muttappa, Mayyappa, and Charan.

A case has been registered at the CEN crime police station under crime no. 20/2025, under section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
