Mangaluru, May 20: In a deeply tragic and emotional incident, a 32-year-old youth ended his life by hanging himself on the premises of the very school he once attended. The incident occurred on Monday, May 19, at the Kurnadu Dattatreya Aided Higher Primary School, located under the jurisdiction of the Konaje police station.
The deceased, identified as Sudhir, a resident of Vulaikoppala in Kurnadu, was a painter by profession and an active member of the local Dattatreya Bhajana and Yakshagana Sangha. Early in the morning, Sudhir had left home on his two-wheeler, stating that he was going to fetch milk. When he failed to return, his mother grew anxious and began searching for him. She found his bike and keys near the school, and upon further investigation, discovered that her son had taken his life by hanging himself on the school premises.

Sudhir had left behind a poignant death note in which he made two heart-wrenching requests. He asked for his kidney to be donated to a relative suffering from kidney-related complications, and most notably, he urged his family not to cancel his younger brother's wedding, which is scheduled for May 29.
The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning, particularly as Sudhir was known for his cultural involvement and calm demeanour.
Konaje police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation into the matter.
Authorities and social leaders have urged the public to be vigilant about the mental health of their loved ones and encourage an open dialogue to prevent such tragic occurrences.
