Mumbai, May 16: In a shining moment for Indian cinema on the global stage, Bollywood actress Jacqueliene Fernandez represented India at the prestigious Red Sea Film Festival’s ‘Women in Cinema’ initiative, hosted on the sidelines of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. At the event, Fernandez joined a global panel of influential women from the world of cinema, sharing stories of challenges, triumphs, and dreams.

Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a string of photographs that captured the spirit of the evening — from deep conversations on the panel to candid moments behind the scenes. Dressed in an elegant white and silver outfit, Jacqueliene looked radiant as she mingled with fellow honourees and film enthusiasts.

“Power-packed panel of ‘Women in Cinema’. We discussed our moments of challenges, joy and dreams together. It’s amazing how cinema can unite us all,” wrote Jacqueliene, giving her fans a peek into the dialogue that took place.

The ‘Women in Cinema’ gala, a collaboration between the Red Sea Film Festival and Cannes, celebrated the contributions of women across the film industry. This year’s honourees included an inspiring lineup — Zambian-Welsh writer-director Rungano Nyoni, Egyptian actress Amina Khalil, Thai actress Engfa Waraha, Syrian filmmaker Gaya Jiji, Saudi actress Elham Ali, Saudi filmmaker Sarah Taiba, and India’s own Jacqueliene Fernandez.

The actress, in another post from Cannes Day 1, expressed her pride at being part of the initiative that champions female storytellers. “Delighted to be an honouree at the Women in Cinema initiative that champions female storytellers,” she wrote, while sharing glimpses of her preparations, interviews, and interactions with international talents.

Back home, Jacqueliene is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Housefull 5, slated to hit theatres on June 6. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the fifth installment continues the legacy of the beloved Housefull franchise, which began in 2010 and has since become a Bollywood comedy mainstay.

As Jacqueliene graces international platforms and prepares for domestic cinematic releases, her journey underscores the evolving role of Indian women in cinema — both as storytellers and global icons.
