Mumbai, May 8: In a strong show of nationalism and solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces, the Shiv Sena on Thursday adorned various parts of Mumbai with posters lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army for their swift and decisive action during Operation Sindoor, the recent military offensive reportedly carried out against Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
According to reports by ANI, the posters were prominently displayed near Dadar Station, one of Mumbai’s busiest transit points. The banners featured bold images and messages hailing the success of the operation and applauding the Prime Minister for what the party termed a "fearless and fitting response" to terror.
The move comes just a day after Operation Sindoor was launched, targeting nine identified terror hubs following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in multiple casualties and reignited national outrage.
Top defence officials — Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Colonel Sophiya Qureshi — jointly addressed the media on Wednesday, confirming that precision strikes were executed across terror camps in Muridke and other strategic zones. Video evidence showcasing these surgical operations was also made public, with the armed forces stating the strikes were aimed at delivering justice to victims and deterring future threats.
In light of the operation, security has been tightened across various northern cities, with Amritsar Airport temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure.
Back in New Delhi, the Centre has moved swiftly to bring political consensus on the matter. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced an all-party meeting scheduled for May 8 at 11 am in the Parliament Library Building. Key opposition leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, are expected to attend.
The Shiv Sena, in its Mumbai campaign, has called for "unwavering unity" in support of India’s defence forces and leadership during what it termed a “decisive national moment.” The party’s move to publicly back the PM and military efforts also comes amid ongoing political churn ahead of the next general elections.
