‘Cesspool of corruption’: BJP tears into Congress govt over KPSC exam leak scandal

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, May 6: The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on the Congress-led state government, demanding accountability over the alleged leak of question papers during the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) examination.

Calling the KPSC a “cesspool of irregularities and mismanagement,” State BJP president B Y Vijayendra accused the Congress government of plunging the recruitment process into chaos, putting the future of lakhs of aspirants at risk.

“Lakhs of Kannada-medium candidates have already faced grave injustice due to repeated translation blunders in the preliminary exam, the re-exam, and the mains. Now, yet another scandal has erupted, threatening to completely erode public trust in the system,” Vijayendra said.

He alleged that on Monday, an unsealed question paper bundle was discovered at an exam centre in Bengaluru. “Even the invigilators admitted the bundle was found unsealed,” he stated.

Demanding a thorough investigation into the incident, Vijayendra said, “The state government will have to pay the price.” He further alleged that one of the question papers had been leaked a day prior to the exam, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the recruitment process.

“When candidates questioned the unsealed question paper at the centre, officials responded with threats instead of answers,” Vijayendra claimed.

The firestorm over the KPSC exam fiasco intensified further after Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi also waded into the controversy. He strongly condemned the state government’s handling of the KPSC recruitment process.

In a scathing statement, Joshi said: By accepting applications and issuing hall tickets late into the night ahead of the 3 May KPSC main exam for 384 gazetted probationers, this government has sent a deeply negative message to the nation.”

Describing the KPSC as a “black mark on the nation” and a symbol of “Congress misrule in Karnataka,” Joshi demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation, claiming it would be the only justice in the matter.

He went further, branding the KPSC a cursed institution for Kannadigas under the current regime, echoing public frustration and raising questions about the future of the state's prestigious civil services body.

As the controversy brews, the BJP has indicated it will continue to raise the issue both within and outside the Assembly, seeking justice for job aspirants and structural reforms in the state’s recruitment machinery.

We , the public knowledge that whoever is in power, makes hundreds and thousands of crores in every way possible. Your own father and his successors did it. Now the present ministers make hay while the sun shines. So, there is no meaning in being jealous. Wait patiently for your turn.
